Ingredients
- 1 cucumber
- ½ tsp salt
- 3 tbsp vinegar
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp Garlic cream
- 4 tbsp water
- ½ tsp Paprika powder
- 100ml crème fraîche (sour cream)
- A pinch of black pepper
Preparation
Slice the cucumber paper-thin using a mandoline or slicer. Mix in the garlic cream and salt. Let it sit covered for half an hour. Afterward, squeeze the excess liquid out of the cucumber slices by hand. Mix the vinegar with sugar, water, and a pinch of pepper, then add this dressing to the cucumber.
Let the Cucumber salad marinate in the refrigerator, covered, for preferably 1 hour. Before serving, garnish with paprika powder and a dollop of crème fraîche.
You can vary the recipe by adding thin slices of onion, tomato, or bell pepper. Cucumber salad is the ideal side dish for Hungarian classics like rakott krumpli, pörkölt, paprikás krumpli, and many others.
